Therapeutic Massage and Energy Work Massage as a therapeutic tool has been in use for centuries. The earliest records of massage being used in treatment date as far back as 4000 BC. More recent research has found that touch is a key element of human survival: babies who do not receive sufficient beneficial touch fail to thrive. Beneficial touch, or therapeutic massage can provide significant relief from many common ailments including stress, muscle tension, headaches, muscle & joint pain such as sciatica, low back pain and neck pain. It has also been found to be effective in alleviating sinusitis, insomnia and other chronic problems. At a minimum, massage can help to promote significant relaxation and thereby provide benefit and relief from this hectic world in which we live. Massage Styles Offered: Deep Tissue Massage - Deep tissue massage focuses on the body's deeper muscles and connective tissues -- to stimulate, unblock, and detoxify them. Deep tissue could best be described as vigorous kneading combined with Shiatsu (acupressure, trigger point) work. This is the type of massage that professional athletes receive. Swedish Massage - Swedish massage feels good! Focusing on relaxation and circulation, this massage increases oxygen flow in the blood and flushes toxins. A wonderful stress reliever! Swedish massage is the form of massage most common in the West. It has its roots in Tuina, dating back to the late 19th century. Composed primarily of stroking and kneading techniques, Swedish Massage can be very relaxing or very intense and can be varied to the need of the client. Swedish Massage usually includes the application of lotion or oils.
Pregnancy Massage - Supports and nurtures the mother-to-be. Soothing touch to increase relaxation and reduce stress on joints, neck and back. Relieves calf pain, headaches and sinus congestion. Focusing on the requirements of the Mother-To-Be, pregnancy massage is a very gentle form of massage. The therapist blends techniques to provide relaxation and relief from low back stress and other pregnancy related discomfort. The therapist always works with an awareness of the special needs of the Mother-To-Be. (May require the primary health care provider’s permission. Massage is NOT recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy.)
Chair Massage - A great alternative to table massage, you can come to us or we can bring our chair to you for special events or even as an addition to a tea party or wedding shower. Chair massage makes a wonderful thank you for your employees after a special project, as a gift to your guests, or for any special event. If you only have fifteen minutes but want the revitalizing benefits of massage then this is a good alternative to the table. Minimum of 2 hours for parties or special events.
Other Therapies Offered: Reiki Therapy - Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is an ancient hands-on healing art designed to create a deeply meditative and healing experience for body, mind and spirit. It is an art that was re-discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 1900s, and is passed from Master to student with the intent to bring Universal healing energy into the body for deep relaxation and a sense of well-being. One receives Reiki fully clothed through a series of gentle, yet powerful hand placements on the body, at various points from head to toe. Tension, stress and discomfort can melt away under the warm, nurturing touch of a Reiki Practitioner. Reiki can be useful in treating a variety of issues -- whether physical, mental or emotional -- or can simply be a way to relax and de-stress. External Qi Healing - External Qi Healing (EQH) is an ancient method of healing that has been veiled in mysticism for millennia. With growing awareness it is becoming more and more popular and is now becoming available in the West. EQH heals without medicine and from within. The practitioner uses their mind to direct their internal qi and, applying EQH methods, conduct it into the patient’s body, organs or systems to reduce symptoms and improve immune function. External Qi Healing activates the patient’s innate and latent self-healing ability. It may also stimulate and develop the patient’s dormant mystical and intuitive abilities. The practitioner of EQH must cultivate and regulate their own energy and develop the emission of their internal Qi under the guidance of Taoist philosophy, Qi Gong theory and Traditional Chinese Medical theory. The practitioner supplements the patient’s qi or essential energy with their own and with universal Qi to “kick start” or activate the patient’s internal healing process. EQH is a very powerful and effective tool for bringing people back to health. Particularly when used in conjunction with Qi Gong and Tai Chi practice, EQH can create a lasting transformation of your basic health and immune function, increasing longevity and the joy of living.
