Alexander Technique

What is the Alexander Technique?Alexander Technique

Alexander Technique is a hands-on approach to understanding human alignment that was developed over 100 years ago by F.M. Alexander. AT is an educational process which teaches the student how to identify and undo poor and inefficient habits that may be causing stress and fatigue. Applying AT principles leads to more reliable sensory perception, body awareness, and movement that is easier, more dynamic and more enjoyable.

In a class or private session, your daily movement patterns (walking, sitting, bending, reaching and lifting) are analyzed, then through verbal instruction and gentle touch, you learn to replace faulty habits with improved coordination and methods. The instructor finds areas of undue muscular tension and the result is greater ease of movement and increased energy. In some cases, AT can help alleviate chronic pain that has been caused by postural stress.
