Our Volunteer/Work Exchange started from a mutual need. When we started, our budget was limited so we couldn’t pay regular staff. There’s a lot to learn just to manage the front desk and our volunteers have stepped up to the challenge. They do everything paid employees would do including keeping our place clean. They are wonderful people who had the time and desire to be part of what we do, but couldn’t afford to pay the full prices to cover the classes or therapies or whatever they were seeking, so it is a mutually beneficial relationship. They really keep things moving and running smoothly. The idea has really flowered! We had to learn to ask the right questions to find volunteers who would be a good fit. We’ve been so blessed by people who have come and stayed to work with us and have been sensitive to the spirit of what we do.

Here is a sampling of what our can’t-live-without core volunteers have to say about DHA:
|"The spirit of positive optimism at DHA and the quality of the teachers and practitioners were the primary enticement for me to volunteer. I wanted to spread the word to others about DHA and have done so since 2007. I've discovered a place of spiritual and healing support at DHA that is an important cornerstone in my life." ~Jana||"Shortly before retiring from Emory, I picked up a flyer advertising the DHA open house and, on a beautiful sunny Saturday, I entered their door for the first time. I was impressed by the wonderful energy and vitality of the place, the wide variety of services offered and the openness and joy of the practitioners. I began volunteering with them shortly thereafter. Since that day, I have met many wonderful people and regularly take part in classes, workshops and massages at a price I can afford. Walking through the door at DHA opened more and more doors for me to walk through on my journey toward increased health and spirituality." ~Linda, volunteer since 2009||"A true healing community that's open to all regardless of your age, situation and/or background. The amazing depth and width of talent and healing program and skills they provide is very unique and special. Sitting at the desk volunteering, sipping tea, meeting service providers and clients, has an interesting therapeutic effect in itself that I'd highly recommend this opportunity for anyone who's ready to explore what more DHA has to offer.
